The Van Stone System (or Vanstone) is an easier, cheaper, and technically superior flanging system. It’s composed of a tube/pipe with freely rotating slip flanges that makes bolt alignment simple, unlike conventionally welded or screw threaded collars. The process is also widely known as the “Conrac”, because Conrac Corporation Machine Tool Division (acquired by PHI in 1985), was the primary developer and promoter of the special machinery used to mechanically flange the tubing to form the lap collar.
